What is Attic Gold?
Attic Gold is a photo appraisal app for iPhone and iPad. You take a picture of an object — a piece of glassware, an old tool, a vintage toy, a book, a chair — and the app identifies what it is, estimates a resale value range, and shows recent sold comparables that support the estimate.
It is built for the moment you are standing in a thrift store, a garage sale, an estate sale, or your own attic, holding something you do not recognise and cannot price. The people who lose money in resale are not the ones who buy badly — they are the ones who buy without knowing. Attic Gold closes that gap in about the time it takes to take a photo.
It is made by Fin and Grin LLC and requires no account, no email address, and no sign-in.
How do I find out what my old stuff is worth?
Photograph the item in the Attic Gold app. It identifies the object, returns an estimated resale value range, and shows recent sold listings for comparable items — no maker, model number, or date required from you.
Point and scan
Open the app and photograph the item. Good light and a plain background improve accuracy, but a normal phone snapshot is enough.
Get an identification
Attic Gold names what the object appears to be — category, likely maker or era where it can tell, and distinguishing details.
See the value range and comps
You get an estimated resale range plus recent sold listings for similar items, so you can see where the number came from instead of taking it on trust.
Save it to your portfolio

Is Attic Gold a real appraisal?
No — and it does not pretend to be. Attic Gold gives an estimate produced by artificial intelligence image recognition combined with real market sales data. It is not a certified appraisal.
Do not use it for insurance, probate, tax, or legal purposes. Condition, authenticity, provenance, and repairs can change an item's real value dramatically, and no photo-based tool can judge those reliably.
Use it the way it is meant to be used: as a fast first screen. It tells you whether something is worth $3 or $300, which is the decision you actually need to make while standing in front of it. If the answer comes back high, that is your signal to slow down and get a certified appraiser to look at it properly.

Does it work offline?
No. Attic Gold needs an internet connection, because the value estimate is drawn from live market sales data rather than a fixed price list stored on your phone.
How accurate is the estimate?
Accuracy depends on the item. Common, well-traded categories with lots of sold data — books, games, mass-produced collectibles, recognisable brands — tend to be reliable. Rare, handmade, or heavily condition-dependent items are harder, and the app is more useful there as a category identification than as a precise number. Always read the comparables it shows you, not just the headline figure.
